Marport is an acoustic trawl monitoring system. Sensors on the net, the doors and the codend transmit through the water column to hull-mounted transducers; a deck receiver decodes them and Scala2 draws the result on the bridge as live values, curves and echograms. The wheelhouse uses that picture to decide when to shoot, how to trim the gear and when to haul.
The sensor families answer the questions asked repeatedly during a tow. Door sensors report spread, pitch, roll and depth, so a door flying flat or digging in is visible before the gear suffers. Symmetry measurement compares port and starboard distances and exposes a trawl towing off-centre. Trawl Explorer gives net opening height, depth and temperature at the headline; Trawl Eye adds an echogram of fish entering the mouth and clearance to the bottom. Catch sensors and Catch Explorer report codend fill, so hauling is timed on data rather than on the clock.
Official dealer status is what stands behind the hardware. NAVION holds a Marport dealership with worldwide territory, so sensors, receivers, transducers and spares are ordered through the manufacturer's own supply chain: units arrive with current firmware, matched to the receiver generation on board, and warranty claims go to Marport rather than into an argument with a third-party reseller. Scala2 licences and options are registered to the vessel through the same route, which matters when the software has to be reinstalled after a PC failure or a bridge refit.
Authorized service covers what happens after the boxes are opened. Engineers configure sensor channels and transmission power, update firmware, verify pressure and temperature readings, replace rechargeable batteries and check charging docks, and set up hull transducer position, cabling and receiver gain. When the uplink is unreliable the work is diagnostic: propeller and machinery noise, aeration over the transducer, mounting position, cable runs and connector corrosion are ruled out in turn rather than replaced blindly.
All of this is delivered inside the port-call window. NAVION works from Busan across Gamcheon fishing port, the Yeongdo repair yards and Busan New Port, and travels to other yards on request. Engineers board with test equipment and spare sensors, so a fault is identified and, where parts allow, closed on the same call. Work is carried out in Russian, English and Korean. Sensors, spares and complete systems are dispatched from Busan to vessels and sub-dealers worldwide under the same dealer territory.

- Trawl Explorer — Headline sensor reporting net opening height, depth and water temperature, with an echo to footrope and bottom — the base reference for warp and door trim during a tow.
- Trawl Eye — Net-mounted sensor returning an echogram of the trawl opening: fish entering the net and clearance between headline and bottom, shown live in Scala2.
- Door sensors (Door Explorer) — Fitted to each trawl door: spread distance, pitch, roll, depth and temperature. Shows a door flying flat, digging in or trailing before the tow is spoiled.
- Catch Explorer — Codend sensor with an acoustic echo, showing catch accumulating over time instead of a single full or not-full signal.
- Catch sensors — Threshold codend fill indication on hoop or rope mounting, reporting when the bag has reached the set level. Often fitted in a series along the codend.
- Speed Explorer — Measures water flow through the net in more than one axis, so towing speed is read at the gear rather than over ground.
- Spread and symmetry measurement — Compares port and starboard distances between doors or wing ends, so an off-centre tow, uneven warps or a door out of trim are visible from the wheelhouse.
- Hull transducers and hydrophones — Hull-mounted receiving transducers pick up the sensor uplink. Position, fairing and cable routing decide the working range and reliability of the whole system.
- Marport receivers — Deck receiver units decode sensor transmissions and feed Scala2. Channel plan, gain and sensor allocation are set to the fit actually carried on board.
- Scala2 software — Marport display and control software: live readouts, echograms, sensor configuration, recording and playback. Licences and options are registered to the vessel.

Yes. NAVION is an official Marport dealer with worldwide territory and provides authorized service. Sensors, receivers, transducers, spares and Scala2 licences are supplied through Marport's own channel, so firmware is current and warranty is handled with the manufacturer.
Can the work be done while the vessel is alongside in Busan?
That is how the work is planned. Engineers attend at Gamcheon fishing port, the Yeongdo repair yards and Busan New Port, and travel to other yards on request, boarding with test equipment and spare sensors so the job fits the port-call window.
Our vessel is not calling at Korea. Can you still supply Marport equipment?
Yes. The dealer territory is worldwide. Sensors, spares and complete systems are shipped from Busan to the vessel, the agent or a sub-dealer, and configuration or Scala2 questions can be handled remotely before the equipment arrives.
The readings drop out during the tow. Is that a sensor fault?
Not necessarily. Loss of the uplink is often a receiving-side problem: aeration or noise over the hull transducer, mounting position, cable damage or connector corrosion. Those are checked before any sensor is condemned or returned.
Do you handle Scala2 licences and reinstallation?
Yes. Licences and options are registered to the vessel through Marport, and the record is kept in the vessel file so software can be reinstalled after a PC replacement or a bridge refit without losing the configuration.
