Below are the job patterns that make up most of our week in Busan — what triggers the call, what we actually do on board, and how long it typically takes. These are job types, not named customer projects.
Owners ask two questions before they hand over a vessel: have you done this before, and will you finish before we sail. The honest way to answer the first is to describe the work precisely enough that an engineer reading it can tell whether we know the job. That is what this page does.
We do not publish vessel names, owner names or IMO numbers. Fleet work is commercially sensitive and most of our customers would rather it stayed that way. If you need reassurance before awarding a job, ask and we will arrange a direct reference with an owner who has agreed to speak to prospective customers.
A detailed photo file of completed installations — before, during and after, including the fabricated mounts — is being assembled and will be published here. If you need to see specific work in the meantime, tell us the equipment and we will send the relevant photographs by email.
Every job below is described as a typical range because the real answer depends on the vessel: what is already installed, how the cable runs are routed, whether the yard has the space free and whether the crew can isolate the circuits when we need them. We give a firm figure once we have seen the equipment list and the dates.
Sensors show intermittently or drop out under tow. We check the hull receiver and transducer, hunt acoustic noise sources, verify sensor charging and firmware, then confirm the fix on a working tow rather than at the quay.
A failed transducer replaced without drydocking where the installation allows it, including cable run, transceiver check, calibration and bottom-lock tuning, then verification on passage out.
Radio installation gone through ahead of an inspection: DSC function tests, EPIRB and SART checks, battery capacity, antenna and earth condition, alarm tests, with defects rectified and the check report handed over.
Line-of-sight and blockage survey, mast or monkey-island mounting, cable and deck penetration, grounding, alignment and commissioning with the airtime provider — planned so the vessel sails with a working link.
A replacement display or sensor that will not go into the existing console or gear. Measured on board, bracket or adapter fabricated locally, fitted and finished in the same port call.
Failed or obsolete mapping hardware replaced while preserving the seabed database the vessel has accumulated over years — backup first, migrate, verify the data is intact, then licences and training.
